Affiliate Link Cloaking

There are a  lot of scripts and tricks to cloak an affiliate link or any link for that matter, but I like to use domain forwarding for my affiliate links.

Forwarding just might be the hardest working domain bargain online. Domain forwarding will allow you to put any domain name to work. It doesn’t matter if you’ve built a site for it or not.

All you have to do is select a domain name, add forwarding, and any visitor who types in that name will be redirected to the existing site you designate.

Forwarding is especially useful if you have a site with a long, complicated address. Most affiliate links fall into this category this is one of the reasons to use domain forwarding to direct your buyers to the affiliate site. Another reason to redirect affiliate your affiliate link is to hide the fact that it is an affiliate link at all.

When you select a domain name to use for an affiliate link you will want to register a domain name that is similar to the affiliate page name or the original affiliate domain name.

Look at the same domain name in a  different top level domain or change the domain name to make it more targeted to your buyers.  Try to keep it simple and use the product or service name in the redirected domain if you can.

Domain forwarding is easy and usually free with most domain services.

You can find low priced domains at Easy Domain Name Service and they come with free domain forwarding .

How Ecommerce Works

It’s not that difficult to explain how ecommerce works. Ecommerce is the electronic exchange of goods and/or services. When you buy something from eBay, Amazon.com or any online store, you are participated in an ecommerce transaction.

If you’ve ever downloaded music from a site like Napster or iTunes, that’s ecommerce, too. First, lets discuss the different types of ecommerce to help you understand how it all works a little bit better.

Business-to-business electronic transfers is the oldest form of ecommerce. Back in the 60s, banks and other businesses began sharing files and transferring the information electronically. It was still limited, because there was not one standard way of conducting this business, so not all businesses could successfully transfer with each other. Once a reliable standard was set up in the 80s, business to business ecommerce really took off.

Consumer-to-consumer ecommerce is popular today. You’ve participated in consumer-to-consumer ecommerce If you ever bought something online either through an ad posting on a electronic bulletin board or an online auction. By far, the most popular from of consumer-to-consumer ecommerce is in the form of online auctions, through the mammoth eBay auction site, where anyone can put goods online for sale to the highest bidder.

Another example is peer-to-peer ecommerce started with Napster, where users shared files for free. Now there are several similar websites and file-sharing programs and systems online.

We can’t explain how ecommerce works without mentioning the huge amount of online that takes places from business to consumer. When anyone purchases anything, whether it’s a download of something electronic or any item that must be shipped to the buyer, at an online store or website, that’s ecommerce.

So to explain how e commerce works, it’s necessary to keep these things in mind. Ecommerce involves one or more of the following:

exchange of information online

exchange of money online

exchange of goods or services online

To explain how e commerce works in your favor, the concepts are just as simple. If you want to purchase a book, for instance, you can find several online bookstores and compare the prices of that book to find the lowest one. You can check the cost of shipping the book, and their shipping times, and determine which store can get it to you the quickest, for the lowest price. All this is avaliable without having to stand in line, fight the crowds, or spend any money for gas. So when you consider that you can comparison shop this way for small items and large alike, it’s easy to see the advantages shopping online offers you.

Though we can explain how ecommerce works in your favor, it’s easy to see the advantages yourself, once you have used the system.

Learn to Price your Products

It is important to know what people will pay for your products and services. Often people don’t properly estimate the value of their product or service so the first time people see an advertisement or commercial, they form an opinion of what is being marketed. If they see something they think is priced too low, they might decide that it’s made with low quality parts and decide they don’t trust the product right then. If they think it’s priced too highly they may decide that it is over priced or out of their price range and look somewhere else for the same product at a lower price.
This is why it’s never a bad idea to shop around online at what your competitors may be charging for similar products. The idea behind this is to get your price slightly lower than what they are charging; so that people think they’re getting a good deal. Of course, make sure that it’s not to good of a deal or they will start wondering about the quality of your product.

If you are still having problems pricing your items, you can go to a related message board and see if there are any discussions that might give you an idea of what people are willing to pay. Many times this is the same type of research that large public relations firms do for their clients.

Remember to keep everything you do as professional as possible and do not be too pushy. You shouldn’t have a problem learning how to safely and easily promote your company, especially if you put these marketing principals into action.
