When you invite people to leave comments in your blog post, you receive more comments than if you don't invite your readers to respond.

It is a good idea to remind your readers that you welcome comments on your blog. A lot of readers just lurk and don't think about participating by commenting on blogs. You will also get people that are new to blogging and don't even know that they are welcome to comment on your blog posts.

You should include an invitation to participate on your blog's comment system in some of your posts. Another thing that works is to ask questions or survey your readers to encourage them to participate.

User participation is important to keeping your blog alive. Be sure to answer questions that come in as comments and you will build a loyal following. When you interact with your readers they will come back because they know that you are engaging with them instead of just telling them your take on a topic.
