Almost everyone blogs about one of their passions these days and if you’re not it’s really easy to get started. There are so many blogging platforms out there today, and some even offer ways to make money and to push a button to turn your blog into a quick, mini website.

Making money by blogging is no real secret, even though you might feel as if those “gurus” you might have come across are keeping their best tips and tricks from you. It takes more than just tips and tricks to make money with your blog anyway. So what do you need to have to make money with a blog?

Making Money Blogging Requires Passion

It really helps to have a passion about what you write about in your blog. You can study popular blogs and see how obvious it is that the author of the blog is passionate about the subject matter they share with others. You want that passion to show through in your writing too.

If you are great at throwing great meals together a recipe blog might be your passion. If you are an artist or musician you can blog about what that involves and start making extra money for writing, not only what you know, but about your passion too.

Whatever your passion make sure you use blog titles and descriptions that reach out to the audience you want to target to help with your search engine optimization.

Making Money Via Blogging Requires Patience

Just like with any business that is profitable it takes time to build it. You have to first write the information you want to present to your audience and then be patient while your audience is developed. You can do things to speed up the process between writings.

For instance, if you update or add something to your blog every 3 days (smart idea) you have that additional time in between to create back links to your blog to help improve search engine optimization.

You can do this with social bookmarking websites like StumbleUpon and Delicious, by sharing content on Facebook, LinkedIn and other social networks, and by writing articles on other platforms like Squidoo and Hubages (and linking back to your own blog) to increase your blogs exposure.

Making Money Via Blogging Requires Persistence

If you’re serious about making money by blogging you also have to be persistent.

Persistence is a form of stubbornness that can work to your advantage especially when you need to expand your knowledge of generating more income from your blogging efforts. Lack of persistence is one of the major factors (probably the number one factor) that will cause a blog to fail to make money.

A Few Additional Quick Tips When Blogging For Income

Become an affiliate – Choose affiliated products and services that match closely with the topic of your blog to increase appeal and conversions. Those companies will pay you a percentage commission for every item sold / sale you refer.

Google Adsense – Integrate Google Adsense ads on your blog and they will pay you for every click generated on the ads. It’s free to join the program and a very easy way to generate income from a blog on almost any topic imaginable.

Paid Blogging – Some companies will actually pay you to advertise their product by writing about it. These are called “sponsored reviews”. Generally you’ll need to a decent audience before you’ll start earning large payments for sponsored reviews (so keep blogging) – but this is yet one further way to both generate income from your blog and also provide your readers with interesting content.

These are just a few ideas and tips for making money blogging. You can find a lot more with a little research online but just remember, the three P’s – passion, patience, and persistence.
